The weight of grief takes another form on “Mutima Wakana,” a deeply moving record by Zambian Afropop and Dancehall artist T-Sean. Released on September 29, 2026, the song serves as the second track on his five-track tribute EP, Woke Up Missing You.

Translated from Bemba as “The Heart Refuses” or “The Heart Denies,” the title captures the central feeling behind the song. T-Sean reflects on the difficulty of accepting the loss of his wife, Sharai, who passed away on July 27, 2026.

The song draws from the personal thoughts T-Sean documented during the early stages of his grief. Those late-night notes became the foundation for music that expresses the confusion, pain, and disbelief that can follow a devastating loss.

Placed directly after the EP’s opening title track, “Mutima Wakana” continues the intimate direction of Woke Up Missing You. Its focus on denial and emotional vulnerability gives the project a deeply personal narrative while showing another side of T-Sean beyond his more energetic Dancehall and Afropop material.
