Late-night club culture takes centre stage on “Danceteria Afterhours,” a new collaboration between pop icon Madonna and Charli XCX. Released on September 24, 2026, through Warner Records, the track reworks Madonna’s “Danceteria” from her album Confessions II, bringing two generations of dance-pop together.
The song draws from the nightlife scenes that shaped both artists. Madonna looks back at her early days in New York City’s downtown club culture, referencing figures such as Jean-Michel Basquiat, Martin Burgoyne, and Haoui Montaug. The title itself pays tribute to Danceteria, the legendary club where DJ Mark Kamins reportedly played Madonna’s “Everybody” demo in 1982.
Charli XCX adds her own story, reflecting on her teenage years around London’s underground rave scene before her later work in electronic pop. Her verse also nods to the creative world she shared with producers and artists including A.G. Cook and SOPHIE.
“Danceteria Afterhours” also plays with the pair’s playful online exchange earlier in 2026, turning the conversation into part of the song’s concept. Musically, the record combines dark house synths with a driving four-on-the-floor beat, with production from Stuart Price, Cirkut, Andrew Watt, and Madonna.
