J’Dess – Chinyere Ft. The Cavemen

J’Dess draws from her Igbo heritage on “Chinyere,” a soulful Afrofusion collaboration featuring Highlife band The Cavemen. Released on September 11, 2026, the song arrives ahead of her cultural seven-track EP, ALA, meaning “Earth.”

Composed by J’Dess alongside Kingsley and Benjamin Okorie, “Chinyere” features the organic instrumentation associated with The Cavemen. Their live approach gives the record a strong Highlife foundation, while J’Dess brings contemporary R&B and Soul elements through her vocal delivery.

The song places Igbo culture at the centre of its musical identity. Traditional phrasing and chant-like refrains shape the lyrics, which touch on identity, perseverance, and standing firm against gossip. This cultural focus gives “Chinyere” a clear connection to the themes explored on ALA.

The Cavemen.’s contribution also gives the record a distinctly Nigerian character, with live instrumentation supporting J’Dess’s vocals throughout. As a release leading into ALA, “Chinyere” offers an early glimpse into the cultural direction of her upcoming project.
