Step back into the golden era of Nigerian music with “Best Nigerian Old Highlife Mix,” a carefully curated 1-hour nostalgic mixtape arranged and blended by Nigerian DJ duo and producers DJ Ozone (Turn Up). The mix brings together timeless sounds from some of the country’s most influential Highlife and Jùjú music legends.

The selection celebrates the rich musical heritage of artists including Cardinal Rex Lawson, whose expressive songwriting and distinctive trumpet arrangements helped shape the Highlife sound of the 1960s. Dr. Victor Olaiya, famously known as the “Evil Genius of Highlife,” also features prominently through his influential horn-led compositions and big-band style.

Adding another layer to the collection is Sir Victor Uwaifo, the multi-instrumentalist behind the legendary “Joromi” sound, while King Sunny Ade represents the evolution of Nigerian Jùjú music with his intricate guitar work, talking drums, and globally recognised sound.

DJ Ozone (Turn Up) keeps the mix flowing across these different eras, creating a nostalgic listening experience for longtime lovers of Nigerian classics while introducing younger audiences to important chapters of the country’s musical history.

Press play on DJ Ozone (Turn Up)’s “Best Nigerian Old Highlife Mix” and revisit some of the timeless sounds that helped shape Nigerian music.
