Tanzanian gospel collective Neema Gospel Choir delivers a moving live worship experience with “Yu Upande Wangu // Daddy,” released on September 16, 2026.
The Swahili-English title translates to “He Is on My Side // Daddy,” reflecting the song’s central message of trust in God as a loving Father. Through its worship-focused lyrics, the choir expresses gratitude for God’s protection, healing, restoration, and faithfulness through difficult seasons.
The song also draws from the biblical picture of God as the One who restores the soul, echoing the message of Psalm 23:3. Rather than presenting faith as free from challenges, “Yu Upande Wangu // Daddy” focuses on the assurance that God remains present through them.
Herman Mchome takes a leading role in the live recording, having written and composed the song while also leading its performance. His direction gives the worship session a personal testimony feel, allowing the message to unfold naturally through the live setting.
