Canadian rap superstar Drake has officially unveiled “FOMO,” a new visual project that takes a different route from the traditional album format.

Released on Tuesday, September 15, 2026, the project arrives as what Drake describes as a “not so short film,” bringing together music, storytelling, and visuals.

The title, FOMO, stands for “Fear of Missing Out,” while the film explores friendship, taking risks and making the most of a memorable summer. Drake has described the self-funded project as a piece of surrealism, using its story to examine the different directions life can take.

At the heart of the film is a contrast between a life shaped by fear and one driven by the courage to take chances. In his announcement, Drake encouraged viewers to embrace opportunities, make important calls, take trips, pursue their creative ideas and avoid holding back on experiences that could matter.

The release also reflects Drake’s continued interest in music-driven visual storytelling. While some critics have questioned the place of traditional music videos in modern hip-hop, the Canadian star used the FOMO rollout to reaffirm his connection to the format, recalling the creative energy surrounding the video for his 2009 breakout hit “Best I Ever Had.”

Coming after a busy 2026 that already saw Drake release ICEMAN, HABIBTI and MAID OF HONOUR, FOMO offers a different kind of release. Rather than another conventional studio album, the project combines Drake’s music and visual storytelling into a film built around friendship, risk and living without the fear of missing out.
